The science behind skin sensitivity
When the skin lacks essential lipids and hydration, the natural barrier of the skin breaks down and forms micro cracks. This results in a compromised skin barrier.
Where there are micro cracks, hydration escapes, microbes get in and causes redness and irritation.
Redness occurs as our blood vessels expand to increase blood circulation to the affected area. This is what we are seeing as blotchy, red, itchy patches.
